New Feature Short Film! Powering Africa with African Hands

What are green skills anyway, why are people talking about them and what does this have to do with Africa?

I am excited to share a brand new short film on green skills in Africa. In this short film myself and one of my fellow Ashden trustees explore the importance of green jobs and skills for the continent.

This film comes ahead of our announcement of this years green skills award winners. Ashden’s prestigious awards program helps spotlight positive stories of local enterprises doing powerful things to grow the green workforce across Africa and the diaspora. We worked with a dynamic local media company to amplify these stories through film — all the enterprises featured here are partners or past winners of the Ashden award. This was such a fun experience, it truly opened my eyes to the power of story-telling.

Speaking of skills & jobs, this short film comes at the same time as the latest ESI Africa Magazine, which features six faces of women working in energy across the continent. One of those faces is yours truly! Thanks to the great team at @ESIAfrica for featuring me in their 2022 Women in Energy round up, it was fun chatting about my updates & what I would do if I were an energy minister!

The entire magazine is super, there are great articles from power fuels & green hydrogen to solar in Sierra Leone, smart metering in Uganda, biogas, EVs… I learned tonnes. You can find the full magazine here: https://t.co/7mAreNHYJ4
