As we transition into a new year, I’d like to share some exciting news. After five rewarding years building the research engine at Power for All, I am moving on to a new adventure.
My research team aimed to create free, widespread access to critical data and insights needed for mobilizing action. Over our first five years we distilled complex ideas into more than one hundred easily consumable knowledge products with over 50,000 readers. We published original research, filling the gaps on how to implement integrated energy solutions, unlock agricultural value-addition, and create jobs in the African context. And we engineered an entire AI-enabled platform providing free data access to hundreds of people everyday. I am so proud of this passionate team and the many tangible examples we have of directly influencing policy in countries like Sierra Leone, Nigeria, Uganda, and Kenya.
I’ve been fortunate enough to be recognized for this impact. Most recently, just a few weeks ago I was selected as a finalist for the GWEC Global Revolutionaries Award 2020. It’s was inspiring to meet other young scholars, entrepreneurs and activists all working towards a more sustainable future. It reminded me how my mission to help grow local research capacities can really make a difference.
This feat was in large part thanks to constant encouragement from partners and friends. Together we raised the bar for acceptable standards of data quality and science communication in the decentralized energy sector. Thanks to everyone who has been following along on this amazing journey. Check out my post early next year to learn more about my new role at the World Resources Institute!
Season’s Greetings and Happy New Year!
