Dr. Rebekah Shirley is an environmental researcher, adviser, and speaker, with over fifteen years of international experience leading research in technologies for sustainability. As Deputy Director for Africa at the World Resources Institute, Rebekah strengthens local research capacities and advances inclusive, sustainable economies, by leveraging critical data and insights for decision-making. Her emphasis is in power systems modeling to support clean energy transitions in emerging markets. Having lived and worked across East Africa, Southeast Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean, Rebekah also enjoys exploring the role of society and culture in solutions for sustainability. Rebekah is passionate about climate education, science communication, and student mentoring.
